One of the most remembered emperor in the world.

Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was a Hindu king ruler from western India. Maratha warrior king who founded the Maratha Empire in western India in the 17th century. He was born in 1630 in the fort of Shivneri, near Pune, and established a Hindu kingdom in a region that was largely dominated by Muslim rulers. Shivaji was known for his military tactics and administration and high value ethics ruler.

This painting is a piece of pure artistic skill. Artist Mr. Anil Bajirao Awale made this portrait in the year of 1988. He was just 18 years old then. Measuring 35cm×53.2cm this painting is phenomenal example of traditional portrait art. Mr. Anil with very minimum resources and very less equipment in his earlier stage of life created this artwork. He comes from a rural background where exposer for Art was very rare and difficult to get. He struggled for learning art in his initial days.
For this painting of Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj he opted for basic poster colours available to him that time. This painting was made from reference of small postcard size photo print of Shivaji Maharaj. Enlarging postcard size photo to this huge size was also a big task that too with this accuracy! After 35 years also, this painting looks so detailed and fresh is surprising to see.
